We're pleased to host a presentation of our most recent report, "Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) Opportunity Assessment: A Critical Component in Growing Ontario's Clean Energy Economy", with the report’s author, Dunsky Energy + Climate Advisors. The team from Dunsky will review the findings of the report, the technologies considered, as well as the framework and assumptions the work is founded on, particularly related to Ontario’s Pathways to Decarbonization (P2D) Report. Following a brief Q & A period, some of our members will also share the latest regarding some of their technologies and the unique advantages and benefits they can provide to Canada's grid.

BESS Fire Safety – Standards, Technology & Application

Energy Storage Canada is pleased to host a conversation discussing the standards and technology involved in BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) with technical expert, Paul Hayes of Hiller Company, and representatives from two BESS manufacturers, Jérémie Lepage of EVLO Energy Storage & Allan Rhodes of Fluence Energy. Together they will discuss the standards and technologies employed by today’s energy storage industry to ensure the continued safe operation of BESS assets and address some of the myths associated with the technology.

Long Duration Energy Storage in Canada with a Federal ITC

Energy Storage Canada co-hosted a conversation with their industry partners from the Long Duration Energy Storage Council (LDES Council) regarding the outlook for LDES development in Canada following the Clean Technology ITCs announced in the 2023 Federal Budget.

Together with shared members, Hydrostor & E-zinc, Executive Director Justin Rangooni of Energy Storage Canada & CEO Julia Sounder, of the LDES Council will facilitate a discussion of how Canada’s recent ITCs might impact LDES development in Canada, lessons learned from the development of long-duration storage in other countries, as well as what Canada might do to help ensure the continued development of energy storage – of all durations – across the country.

About the Webinar

During this lunch and learn session, Energy Safety Response Group (ESRG) delivered an abridged version of their “Battery Safety 101” course, which has been delivered to developers, manufacturers, utilities, public safety officials, AHJs, and communities across North America. This webinar is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about Battery Energy Storage safety. ESRG will discuss lithium-ion battery safety risks, codes and standards, how to mitigate ESS risks, permitting considerations, and emergency response to ESS. We ended with audience Q&A and more information on how to properly engage stakeholders.
