Justin is a lawyer with more than a decade of experience in Canada’s energy sector, specializing in policy and government relations. Since becoming Executive Director in 2019, Justin has facilitated significant growth within Energy Storage Canada’s membership, staff and conference offerings to match the accelerated growth of the storage sector, succeeding in establishing ESC as the voice of energy storage in Canada. Justin holds an Honours BA in Economics & Political Science from the University of Toronto, as well as a Law Degree from the University of Western. He currently sits on the board of the York Children’s Aid Society.

With six years’ experience in not-for-profits in Canada’s energy sector, Leone is a knowledgeable industry communicator and engagement specialist, who joined Energy Storage Canada’s team in the summer of 2021. With nearly fifteen years experience in strategic development, project management, and events in not-for-profit organizations in Eastern Canada, she brings a diverse set of operational skills to support ESC’s policy and advocacy efforts. She is passionate about furthering the communication for, and education of, stakeholders at all levels in support of the acceleration of Canada’s ongoing energy transition – especially the important role for energy storage!

Andrew is Sr. Director of Policy and Government Affairs with Energy Storage Canada. Andrew joins ESC with over 10 years of experience working in the energy and environmental sectors having previously held roles with Bruce Power, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and Ontario Government. Andrew is also a graduate of the Munk school of Global Affairs the University of Toronto with a master’s degree in public policy and public affairs.

Michelle served as British Columbia’s Minister for Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources from 2017-2020, and then as Minister of Jobs, Economic Development and Competitiveness in 2020. She was the first female MLA for Nelson-Creston from 2009 to 2020, and the youngest City Councillor for the City of Nelson from 2002-2005. In each role, Michelle has been an advocate for affordable utility rates, renewable energy generation, grid resilience, and energy innovation. As a Columbian Basin resident, she is proud that her region generates close to fifty percent of BC’s renewable electricity.
Michelle is forward-thinking and a go-getter. She brings people together to solve problems and create public benefit. Responsible for BC’s first zero-emission vehicle mandate and government oversight of major hydroelectric projects, Michelle helped move key initiatives in the BC government forward. She is now applying that experience and skill with Energy Storage Canada in support of continued grid reliability.
Michelle holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Science and a Master of Arts in Peacebuilding and Human Security. She currently writes a monthly opinion piece for the Vancouver Sun and is working on her memoir Minister Mom. She resides in Nelson with her family and enjoys all that mountain life has to offer.

Robert is a professional engineer with a background in transmission line design and construction. He also has experience running campaigns and policy advocacy efforts, with a focus on decarbonization of electricity as well as electrification of transportation and buildings. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan and Professional Engineer designation with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta. He is especially passionate about utilizing Canada's competitive advantages to advance the world's transition to a net-zero economy. He also sits on the board of the Sunalta Community Association and co-chairs the board of the Calgary Climate Hub.

Jame is a seasoned conference specialist with over a decade of experience in the
events industry across public and private sector. Her exceptional communications
skills and her cross-sectoral experience have provided her excellent skills in
engagement and stakeholder relations, which she looks forward to bringing to the
energy storage industry. She earned her master’s degree in communication from
Manipal University and is passionate about curating strategic and captivating
events. Outside of work, Jame enjoys baking, travelling and volunteering her time
with the local community.
