Energy Storage Canada (ESC) seeks an experienced association management professional to build on the momentum of this growing national industry association. This is a unique opportunity to create and implement member engagement and member development campaigns, communications strategies, organize conferences and events, and play a key role in contributing to the success of this exciting industry.

The Director, Association Management & Member Engagement, is entrepreneurial and resourceful, works independently and is responsible for overall operations, event management and engagement for the association. The Director will report to the Executive Director, who is responsible for policy and advocacy.

ESC is the voice of energy storage in Canada. As the national industry association for energy storage, ESC represents the broad cross-section of companies involved in this growing industry. A non-profit, member-supported association, ESC’s mission is to advance the energy storage industry in Canada by leveraging the strengths of our diverse membership to raise awareness and drive market development in Canada.


Responsibilities

Administration, Membership Development, Marketing

  • Conceive, develop and execute strategies to ensure the growth and financial success of the organization, including revenue growth through memberships, conferences, events and sponsorships. Identify and capture new opportunities for revenue growth.

  • Create membership development strategies and build engagement with members through communications and events

  • Work with Board Committees

  • Manage suppliers, monitor budgets, work with Treasurer to develop and manage budgets

  • Work with Executive Committee to prepare a comprehensive annual budget

  • Conceive and oversee development of all paper and digital marketing and communications strategies

  • Oversee effective day-to-day operation of the organization


Member and Stakeholder Engagement & Events

  • Develop and organize members-only events, including the Annual General Meeting and quarterly policy-focused webinars

  • Assume primary responsibility for the annual conference, including budgeting, managing outsourced services, program development, sponsor development and speaker management

  • Develop and organize speaker and networking events in Ontario and Alberta for the broader community that generate revenue while building and highlighting ESC’s profile as a thought leader in energy storage

  • Develop sponsorship programs and lead activity to generate sponsorship revenue that ensures events are revenue positive and contributing to ESC budget

  • Identify and pursue opportunities to grow membership, including at Advocacy Council levels in Ontario and Alberta

  • Engage with existing membership to ensure high level of membership retention

  • Develop and oversee all communications material, including exhibit material, email marketing platforms (such as Mailchimp), Eventbrite, brochures and other materials such as web content and design, social media.


Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in administration, communications, marketing, or other relevant field

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in administration, event management, membership development and marketing;

  • Experience and a track record of success in membership-based, non-profit organizations;

  • Understanding and knowledge of the energy sector, particularly in Ontario and Alberta;

  • Knowledge of budgets and accounting practices;

  • Experience in communications with a broad range of stakeholders;

  • Experience organizing different types of events and conferences

  • Excellent writing, editing and digital communications skills;

  • Experience with webinar platforms and website content management systems;

  • Experience with email marketing platforms, such as Mailchimp or Constant Contact and event management tools;

  • Proven capacity to accomplish multiple tasks simultaneously, to prioritize, and to meet tight deadlines in a complex and changing environment;

  • Ability to work independently in a virtual office.
